    Hey Guys,

I'm talking to the sales guy at this dealership in Washington, checking to see what shipping would cost to get the bike down to me in Southern California...
    https://www.i-90motorsports.com/def...1&make=honda&s=Year&d=D&fr=xPreOwnedInventory

I asked about bags, and aftermarket parts (other than the slip on)... Sales guys said he's get back to me with answers and a lowered price from advertised after he gets a quote on shipping cost. He said since I'm out of state I would not have to pay Washington sales tax, and it's over 7500 miles so I can register it in CA without an issue. This is the 3rd VFR1200 I've looked seriously at. The second one I posted here and got some great feedback that made me lower my offer and eventually walk away (a 2010 with 20k miles and lots of mods for $6900). I'm nervous about buying it just off of photos but the dealer seems reputable. I have ridden a VFR1200F with bar risers and a Corbin seat and I loved it.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

I am not a fan of black bikes, and I don't know beans about the 1200's.
But this looks really clean. According to the listing, the bike is CARB compliant anyway, so not sure what the mileage would matter. Must be a CA thing about used vs. new?

I'll bet it sounds a bit throaty with that carbon canister.... Hope it works out for you!

Are you a member of VFRD? Late last year (I last PM'ed him around September), StockJock (member name) was selling his 2012 VFR1200. - non DCT, Blue. Chicago area. Original owner. At the time, he advised that there were no scratches, never been laid down or tipped over. 6794KM (yes KM) on the odometer. Heated garage kept. Pictures looked Really Really Good and he said he'd be willing to take $6450 USD! I was really really tempted to buy it but at the time, the wife unit put her foot down and said I couldn't buy it unless I sold my 2015 first. He mentioned storing it for winter and looking at selling again in the spring. I think it's definitely worth contacting him about!

Btw, my understanding about the 7500 miles import thing is that if the bike has a 50 state emissions sticker, it can have less than 7500 miles on it.

FWIW, I bought my 2015 VFR800 used from a dealership in Illinois and shipped it to LA via HaulBikes - https://haulbikes.com/ .

Cool. Thanks for the data point.. I'm negotiating with him now. No luggage or any mods other than the exhaust. I offered 6300, he is now at 6750. I could probably get it for $6500 but I don't think that is much of a deal. Pretty sure it needs tires, I def want the bags ($1000), to do the seat ($400), some bar risers ($100) maybe a new wind screen. After shipping, CA sales tax when i register it and all the mods I want... Could be pushing $9k total cost and f*ck that noise. I left my 6300 offer standing. I'm not in a big rush and will keep looking.

And no... not a member of VFRD... Thanks for the tip though.

Hi there, I'm Saul. I live in Wales UK and have recently bought a Honda VFR1200 F 2010 with just under 10k miles on the clock. So far I have had no problems what-so-ever. It's in show room condition and that lovely burgandy red colour but without any boxes, which doesn't bother me as I have a large bag that I strap to the rear of the seat. I bought the bike early December 2018 with 3 months warranty. I paid just under £5000 for it, a good price I feel.

Hi there SDGuero. I'm Saul. I am the proud owner of a 2010 Honda vfr1200f 1200 which I bought from a dealer. It really is in show room condition with just under 1ok miles on the clock. It goes like a dream with standard exhaust, though I might get an after market noisier exhaust can. It came naked of any boxes which doesn't bother me since I strap on a large bag to the rear seat and it does the job. Buying used bikes isn't so bad and you can get some good deals. I live in Wales the UK by the way. I paid just under £5000 for the bike which is pretty reasonable. Good luck with your purchase.

Hi SDG'... Glad you've bought a decent machine. The vfr1200's are good tools for serious road burning, very underated I find.

Thanks. I commute about 7k miles a year, replacing a 2001 katana 750. Looking at lowered pegs (DCT... Why not?), top case and i don't like the two bros slip on it has now as it interferes with the luggage (seller included the side bags and stock slip on). I think this is the funnest time of bike ownership, when you customize it to fit your wants.

In regards to the foot pegs, Buell pegs and a bushing to adapt them and you are set for about $45.

Sent from my phone. Please forgive brevity and spelling.

FWIW, I got the knight design ones with rubber pads. They were pricey ($169) but made a big overall improvement in comfort for me (6'1"). Now my wife wants them for the passenger pegs... :-/

I don't know of any off the shelf replacement passenger footpegs, but I am sure there is something out there.

Yeah, the Knights are pricey but they are quality. I went with the Buell for the aesthetics, but the comfort just happen to be spot on. I'm the same height as you and the drop I think is the same as the Knights. Maybe they can be modified for the passenger?
