Hi Guys, I bought a new battery 3months ago and the battery drains out even when I just started the Bike 2 minutes before. There is not enough juice to start it again. I read that is a common problem and that people change the regulator rectifier and they put a Vfrness. What should I do first that may solve the problem.

Ps: Im a noob with electric components.

    Is this a charged battery?
Do you know the voltage of the batt?
    Have you done 'The DRILL'?

Hi, yes it is a charge battery and it's a new battery Voltage 12.8. What's "the Drill" mean? Anyway I thought I'll just change components without testing them but finally I'll try to test the regulator with some research on how to do it and after try to test the stator if it's possible. Thanks

If there is enough juice to start battery then none to start it two mins later then the battery is goosed. More than likely a duff cell.

The bike wont have been running long enough to run the battery down if the RR is away.

Hi, Thanks for your reply. Im gonna test with another battery but until now I wasn't doubting it could be the battery because she is 3 months old. But nothing to loose I'll just steal my father battery and rule out the battery. Thanks

I started the bike and Voltage is 14.5V so it seems the battery is charging. So I must be losing electricity somewhere else. I checked with ignition off the battery drain and it was .18 mA.

I followed the user manual. Current leak under 1.2 mA is Ok i'm at 00.15mA then they say unplug rectifier and see current leak again and I get 00.18mA so im correct then the result is faulty regulator but I don't understand if after the test I have no current leak and my bike is charging properly and my battery is 12.77V at rest and 14.3V on idle how my regulator is the cause of my battery draining.

    Follow the drill..

It has to be done hot & cold..

    But do all the steps.

Also, be sure not to overlook the starter solenoid in your checks. With the engine running, feel it to see if it's becoming hot to the touch. If it is, replace it. My mate and I spent a year trying to track down a battery-draining fault on his CBR, before we found that this was in fact the issue. (..we'd replaced all the usual stuff without curing the fault: ie. battery, wiring, rectifier, stator etc). The solenoid, surprisingly, was the cause - and replacing it cured the fault.

Finally, like the diagnose from the user manual said my problem seems to be the rectifier. I did "The Drill" and test the diodes and I have 2 diodes blocking the current in a direction when it should flow so it is definitely faulty. Until my rectifier is changed I won't be sure a 100% it was the cause of my draining problem. But we'll see. Probably, I wish.
