the new aluminium radiator and hoses have arrived. I will have to wait for the water pump gasket to come in and the water pump cover to come back form the powder coater before installing. Really happy with the red hoses. Cant wait to get it all fitted on the bike.

has anyone put a set of inverted forks on a RC36.1? there is a bit of information on what fits with some modifications. Looking for a straight change over and keeping the original front wheel if possible. Do the RC51 forks bolt straight on and how are they for length?

I was considering the same when I started my build (1994 with 2004 RR plastics) and I decided to upgrade the fork internals and shock. There's a guy (Jamie Daugherty) that will build you a set of very capable suspension components for the gen3 and 4. To add, a friend came up with a set of Brembo radial calipers. I fabbed some aluminum hangers and added a radial master and braided lines. Between the suspension and the brakes, the bike is totally transformed. It rides and handles better than my '16 1000R.

A quick question, does anyone know if a RC36-2 triple tree will fit a RC36-1??? They have different part numbers. the part number for the RC36-1 is 53300-MT4-000 and the RC36-2 is 53300-MZ7-000. They do look the same?

Front Forks re-bushed, Honda 10W oil and re-sealed, rear subframe, wheels and engine cases powder coated, fairing re-sprayed, new aluminium radiator, new red radiator hoses, new fasteners, fuzeblock Fz-1 fitted, quad lock on RAM mount, usb charger with volt meter, Garmin 595LM GPS, new screen ready to go on. Just waiting on some Honda Bond HT to seal the cases. Almost there!

Nice work, now you gota do something with the chain-guard. My engine covers looked just like yours too. I powder coated my rear wheel on my 91 a few months ago, very happy. Nice posts, enjoyed looking at my favourite bike!

I have not come up with a solution to the chain-guard yet. The rear fender is also oxidised. Was thinking of wet sanding the rear fender, the chain-guard I am not sure about. Maybe a heat gun? any ideas/suggestions?

This stuff is simply magic in a bottle. I did my ST1100 (which has a shitt-tonne of unpainted plastic) and it was unbelievable. It doesn't leave a residue and it doesn't wash away.

The chain guard and fender plastic is also a great candidate for Satin or Matte black Krylon Fusion Spray paint. No sanding needed (or recommended), just really clean. If done right it looks like black plastic and is durable.

I had that fusion paint, I am not sure if Krylon still makes it, they sell it with a slightly different label now I believe. Those are all stock fenders never painted, waxed with everything from Pledge to Honda polish. I had to buy the chain guard used and it came with the warning stickers and chain adjustment stickers still on. The rear fender on the white bike came from CA and has the PAIR and CA emissions crap stickers inside which I left on for giggles, its in reasonable condition I feel. The white bike is a rider which gets good care (parked under an over hang totally shielded from sun and rain.) I have a can of Wurth plastic bumper paint I picked up years ago. Its just kicking around in my closet, have not had experience with painting the plastic in my career. You could try a donor piece and see how it goes. I am thinking of the Rolling Stones song right now, Time is on my Side - have alot of it (hi Capt)

Thankyou, will get a bottle of the CarGuys Plastic Restorer and give it a go. I have painted plastics in the past with variable results. Mind you that was 20 years ago so the paints are most likely a lot better....or it could of just been my inexperience. The chain-guard on the bike still has the tyre pressure sticker and I want to keep it, so it will be polishing/treating rather then painting for now.

Ironically, the rear fender on my ST was the ONLY piece of plastic that the restorer didn't completely restore. Much better, but not like the rest of the bike. The restorer should like the chain guard no problem.

Fusion is still available and was specifically developed for plastic. It's not like trying to paint plastic in the past. I can also post some pics if you wanna see what the fender could look like. I've used on many bikes and it's always looked great and lasted. I showed my friend a fender I did a couple weeks ago. He said, "So. It's a plastic fender". I told him it was painted and he couldn't believe it.

I do need to do something with the rear fender. I have ordered a bottle of CarGuys’ Plastic Restorer. I have also found a supplier of krylon fusion. Happy to try and paint the rear fender. As the rest of the bike has been resprayed or powder coated, I really need to do something about the plastics. Would prefer a pertinent solution. Painting maybe it. I am assuming that you just clean the plastic panel with wax and oil remover and paint it?

Yeah, super clean. Any sanding marks on flat surfaces will likely show. When I reshape fenders, I will sand just the edge with some fine sand paper. Don't spray in direct sunlight (like most paints).

Ordered the krylon fusion in Satin Black. will give it go. Will have to do a bit of sanding to clean the fender up, will finish it off with a 200 grit. hopefully the sanding marks will not show. something to do on the weekend. We are locked down in Victoria for 6 weeks... plenty of time to finish off the VFR750 and fit the Akrapovic Slip On Exhaust and Quickshifter to the VFR800

200? Better finish with at least 600. The paint doesn't "fill".
