Any one have a photo or the actual part that combines the locking mech on the cowl to the actual seat release lock? thanks!

That looks like mission impossible to replicate or find.

Is that the only piece you are missing?

It would appear so. I have the cowl lock and the original seat lock but not what ever that is that "extends" the cowl lock to operate the seat unlock. lotto locks. Thinking of noodling with my engineering buddy and a 3d printer on a solution.

I have a 1000F cowl that is missing the hardware. I have been thinking about a solution that will allow a lock installed on the cowl to operate and hold the cowl down. On scooters there is a striker plate for latching the same style lock on the "glove box". I was thinking about using a striker plate to create something that sits raised in the seat latch lock hole so the cowl latch can engage and keep the cowl in place.

Come to think of it I should probably get some parts and start working on a solution.

since you are knowledgeable on all thing VF/r. VF1000F, does it really 315 CCA battery? I guess it makes sense since I picked it up with a 135cca and hardly starts. that was the number from shorai. Also, would all 4 idle jets have to be clogged to keep the bike from idling without choke? That seems so unlikely or do you think i have a bigger running problem?

Couple things on the VF1000 starters, both F and R. The starters are just 2 brush models and get very weak. You can open them up and clean out all the brush dust and reduce some resistance, but don't bother. Here is what I've done on all of mine. Buy a 86/87 RC24/26 starter. They are 4 brush motors and bolt right in. The battery post is in a slightly different spot, you just have to move a couple of the clamps that hold the cable as it goes up under the right crankcase cover and re-route a little to reach.

You won't believe how nice it spins up with one of those starters. Do it!

    Here's a post I did at VF1000.com

It can take just a couple pilot jets (maybe one) with issues to not let it idle. If (when) you go thru the carbs, get yourself some new intake boots and go up one size on the pilot. Even completely stock VFs like one size up. They start better, and "warm up" faster. Meaning they can come off "choke" sooner and be ridden.

I need to get down my VF750F parts box and grab an extra stock seat latch lock. I think I have an idea that will provide the cowl a latch and still be able to use a key to get seat off.

I got so much shit going on, it's not even funny. Really kinda sad.
