Side covers, Front turn signal lights and mounting brackets,
Tool box, Rear foot pegs including brackets and bolts.
Headlight, Rear fender where license plate mounts has been cut off
so I need that plastic piece.
Most the fasteners on the fairing and external trim are beat up or corroded
and not sure where to get those.
    Thanks.

Side covers: eBay. Good luck and be prepared to pay. Even for damaged ones.

Tool Box: eBay: Good luck. See Side covers above.

Rear footpegs: eBay. Common item for sale. I have bought multiple sets over the last few years to modify and save my original nice ones.

Turns signals: eBay. The housings and rubber stays are common Honda items. The brackets are unique, but not impossible. But that may be an item that gets tossed when a bike is broken for parts. Search for bracket parts lots and see if you seen them in pics.

Headlight: eBay. Won't be impossible, but the clamshell and mounting brackets are unique to the bike. MAYBE a VF750/700F shares some the housing and clamshell parts. Could probably be adapted if not the exact same.

Fasteners: Some may be available still from Honda. Except for a few like the rear taillight cover, they were used on MANY Hondas. Be sure to note where double length flange bolts are needed (going thru 2 pieces of bodywork or incorporate a rubber bushing) to not damage any plastic or fiberglass. Also search for parts lots from Interceptors that may have the hardware included.

Rear Fender: eBay. Good luck. See side covers above.

This is part of the joy of trying to rebuild / restore a VF1000R. This is why many people end up of with a second parts bike.

Thank you for the reply Captain 80s.

Probably shouldn't have purchased this bike as it is a model
I'm not at all familiar with and bought it off ebay. The bikes condition was not described accurately
and I paid too much for it.
I do like it and want to restore it but Damn.
Anyway, Didn't think it would be so difficult getting the parts for this bike.
I've had it for a couple of months now and have been watching ebay.
I'm not seeing the parts I need except for the directional lights and rear pegs
and they aren't in the condition I would like.
There is a low mileage parts bike for sale on ebay right now but it will most
likely bid far beyond what I can do and the shipping from New York to Arizona is
    pricey.
I do like a challenge, but this one is going to be rough.
    Thanks again.

I have restored one and did a rebuild / semi-restomod on another. They are satisfying to do, but can be a challenge. I got lucky on most of my parts, but patience was required on some. And money. I restored my first one before the internet became what it is today, and I was working on any leads of people who said they had parts or knew somebody. I have been hunting and buying hard to find parts ever since. 1000R parts prices have gotten ridiculous tho, with many sellers being completely unreasonable.

The foot peg brackets can be restored. Most that you find, the clear anodizing will be failing.

Building one bike from two is probably the most cost effective way these days. And you end up with spares of some hard to find parts.

    Good luck!!

The turn signals on the Interceptors 500/700/1000 from 84 on are the same, with just the length of the stays differing from model to model. Don't limit your search to just 1000R for those.

    Do you need all 4?

Just need the front turn signals. Its the mounting brackets that may be a challenge.
Almost afraid of what I'll find when I start disassembly of this bike.
    Thanks again.

I remember that bike. I contacted the seller and mentioned he might want to consider re-wording the ad from "all orginal" or something like that, as it is a mix of 85 and 86 . There might be some surprises, but it will probably be a decent starting point.

    86 Upper and lower cowl
    85 tank
    85 rear tail.
    86 solo seat cowl.

The mounting brackets are really nothing that special, essentially flat pieces of metal.

I have not seen that set. That is a good price and they don't look that bad.
Thanks for the link. Did you check out the 85 on ebay?

Yeah, but I can't remember now, did it have the 85 headlight (single) or 86 (dual)?

At the time, I didn't think it was that bad, just not as original as they were claiming. Like 100% original except for exhaust or something like that.

And do you mean the side covers that cover the front part of the frame near the airbox?

I purchased those pegs. thanks again for the link.
I really appreciate the help. Like I said, I didn't know anything about vfs or the history of them.
When I saw that bike on ebay and started reading the history on it, I thought it is a special bike
and I love the look. Will be a challenge to restore but satisfying at the same time. I like unusual stuff
you don't see everyday. It's easier to get parts for my 46 Nimbus than it is for my cbx or this vf.
Got to go now, talk with you later Captian 80s, love that name.
    Thanks for your time.

Why do you need a headlight? Or do you need the surround that goes around it?

If you have an 86 upper cowl and the single 85 headlight, there is nothing for the upper part of the 85 headlight surround to attach to.

I have a single headlight. Are all the 86 cowls dual headlight?

Yes. Maybe not the best example, as this is an 86 I rebuilt using half 85 and half 86 cowls, but you get the idea.

The 86 headlight fills the entire area, not allowing for the upper mounts for the 85 headlight surround. I eliminated that tab on the left (our right) 85 side.
