2&1/2 is correct for a starting point

As you’ve had the float valve seats out I assume you’re putting new valves in, the float height is 9mm for the 36mm carbs

I’ve got the same bike and exhaust system, mine used to belong to a guy who raced F750 @ the TT in the 90’s, RC30 was his race bike and he used the FK as a road learning tool outside of official practice, he had a certificate on his wall for the FK from 1991 with a speed of 161 mph clocked down the Sulby straight …..so the OEM jetting must be pretty much spot on

I don't think he's going to use the muffler, moving to a straight thru design, but I can't argue with that. Cool.

    Me thinks I'm in deep.
^^thumbs. I have no new parts to put in besides the mini kit from V4dreams. I did inspect the rubber portion of the float valve (hangs off of the float bowl?) and they didn't have a ring or any oddities about them. I did clean them gently and check their little internal springy-ness. Seemed good so far.

Is there a good source for these carb parts, or will this be a search and destroy google mission? Looks like you can order individual jets through 6Sigma.

^^161mph ...whew that is flying on that bike. 173 is my PB top speed.

I have NEVER had to replace the Viton tipped float valves. Put a little lacquer thinner on a rag and spin the tip between your finger and thumb. The rag will be black. Move to a new moistened part of the rag and repeat. Maybe one more time. This will remove any deposits and get down to "fresh" rubber.

be sure to compare any new jets with your old ones side-by-side to check for errors, and be careful not to over-tighten emulsion tubes like this guy did............

Here is one of the float valves to my understanding. It looks good to me.

best to inspect float needle with a 10X magnifier to look for a ring of depressed area or any defects.

cheap enuff but made in china junk can be wildly inaccurate. they haven't yet figured out the concept of quality control.

I have so many goddamn bikes, I can't afford to throw all new parts at everything, every time. An original float valve that passes inspection and operates perfectly on a bench test is gong back in. I would rather have a used Honda float valve that is still perfectly fine, than some potentially inferior part. I'm sure there a good replacements out there, I will find out when I need to.

Now this is just me. I will take that gamble, and it's me that might pay. Everybody has their own comfort level, it's cool.

This used to be the case, like Made in Japan in the 50’s was, but presumably from making iPhone, etc they have got up to speed, I bought some to just check them out and they’re exact replicas

I took my vernier micrometer to every component and they were all dimensionally correct, I didn’t check the jets though and also didn’t use them, I bought new #40 pilots from NPR

I did order a Keyster set of carb parts last year and they didn't match anything except the float bowl gasket.. really dissappointed.

Man, the U.K. sure has way more specific vendors and resources for carb parts than here in the States.

That's a great lead Thumbs, thanks.

I just submitted an order from 6sigma for the jets only. 2 x 127 and 4 x #40. Lets see what I get in the mail.
Do the needles usually have a washer spacer already installed. When I pulled the needle out of carb #4 it had a small washer spacer already on it. When Capt recommended .5mm washer, was that to be added to the already present washer or just a single washer spacer at .5mm? THanks!
