Stock everything to continue clarifying. Lol. Sorry.
I should get a manual later this week. Part of the free gear in SoCal. The guy found a title for the frame and service manual and mailed it fo free.

Float height if anyone has easy access or I can wait until later this week.

pictured is the fuel cross tube Y, front fuel fill on the upper right, original fuel hose Y, and the blanked off large hole.

Ahh thanks SM! 9mm for both it will be. I replaced the fuel T, pilot needle, and bowl drain O-rings from my stash. I need the bowl gasket at this point. Leakdown will provide more info. But tonight is bowl gasket order night. :)

New problem to me. Trying to remove lower fork bolt and the bolt and assembly would rotate with the drill bit. Spring did not provide enough pressure to hold the parts in place. So my wife pressed our 2.5’ breaker bar into the assembly minus the spring and spacers. Worked like a charm, but I had not come across this before. Still learning shit! Bolt head removed. image.jpg

The ones you are asking about are both vacuum and need to be "plugged". But when I have two that need to be taken care of, I connect them with good vacuum line. I trust it over time/heat more than a plug.

EDIT: You have three vacuum apparently. I would connect the two with the bent spigots and plug the straight one.

Re forks: Right when I was about to remove the forks from the 90 for disassembly, I thought, "WAIT!" I reinstalled the fender as it has a built in "fork brace" to isolate the lowers and I tried the lower bolts. They both released like a drain plug. It was glorious.

I've had to drill quite a few. It doesn't even bother me anymore. The bottom of the hex area is shaped for the perfect center start and you can't really damage anything.

    Good job.

    Thanks for the input dude!
    Vacuum- got it.
Question, Squirrel said 9mm on float height. The '88 service manual says 6.5mm. This is not an '88, but the carbs may be. Should I just cut the distance in half and go?

Unfortunately, the second fork is doing the same thing so my wife will need to help me tomorrow. :)

I am jealous of your "drain plug" glory! hahaha

    Cheers, Capt!

Anytime a spigot exits the carbs right above where they engage the intake boots, it's gonna be vacuum. That's how they are creating vacuum, by using the high velocity air flow. Just like using a compressed air nozzle across the end of a tube to start a siphon.

I am definitely not saying to go against sm's advice. 6.5 and 9.0 are a ways away from each other. Perhaps try and verify which carbs you have by the serial numbers. The Factory Service Manual should list the Serial #s for the 88 carbs.

    Trust but verify.jpg

Disclaimer: THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL STATEMENT OR A DECLARATION OF PARTY AFFILIATION. I just always liked the quote since I was a kid.

Still learning. I did not realize that carbs are serialized. Back to school! Thanks again! I like Reagan, I dressed as him for Halloween (See Point Break). hahaha
