Way too much money
pretty sure that was explored...perhaps even in this very thread...
I'd open that can up. probably needs repacked anyway...
You are definitely right about one thing...this belongs in PM. Should I have anything further to add I will definitely take it to that forum and...
Your "disappointment" regarding your VF500 experience bleeds through quite clearly. Understandable, but not uncommon with old bikes... It is...
I think you'd be happier with a modern bike.
Well, maybe you should hold off taking shots at Jamie until you've contributed a fraction of what he has to the gen 1 community...
I think you should go Gen 3...minimum.
For a couple of guys who have so much distaste for 500s, you sure do spend a lot of time commenting on them.
Oh, and you'll need this set (or an appropriately sized socket) and a BFH to get the new bearings in once the coating is done:...
No, but this is what you're looking for: Blind Hole Bearing Puller
You will have to remove them as the wheel will need to be blasted first. I used an inexpensive blind bearing puller from Harbor Freight.
Has your 500 been running poorly?
Mityvac is super cheap at Harbor Freight/Northern Tool etc.
I think a few cases is what it would take...instead I might run up to Harbor Freight this weekend and buy that air cutter I've had my eye on =P
I have a beat up tank I've considered dissecting...don't think I have enough cut off wheels for my dremmel to make it happen though =(
rubber-band the brake lever over night
I haven't seen the F1r up close but my F1s have almost zero bend. From the pics I have seen, it looks like the F1r has a larger diameter pipe.
This thread scares me. You have one serious project on your hands.
Yeah, that's a honey for sure.
