+1 squirrelman.. also sounds like you tank cap is not venting to allow fuel to flow . when you flip the cap over there is a small hole in it spray...

100/90/16 is stock size for the vf500f. in the front. 110/90/18 for the rear. I have a 120/90/18 on now, but that will change. got an f2 rim off...
they are the same just added the vent for a look change between years.
you also might want to make sure your tank is venting.. really clean the gas cap.... sounds dump right ??? if the tank can't breath the gas will...

sounds just like mine. found out it was a bad relay , got one from fleabay now it works great.
if the bike won't idle or bogs then it's carb cleaning time. take each carb apart 1 at a time, so you don't mix the parts up. don't seperate them...

84/86 have the same tank . it's the mounting of the petcock that's different. that's why you can't use a 86 petcock on an 84 tank.
