It is well accepted that the 500 runs fine without the pump. The 750 is hotly debated
Carb sync will smooth out the knocking. 1/8 turn on one sync screw can be the difference between knocking or not. We don't need no stinkin VFRD

Go to a local upholsterer and they'll custom fit you for the same cost as those aftermarket seats.

Ground problems would cause that on the older bikes. Low fuel pressure causes an FI light without a fault code on the older bikes too.
