According to the service manual..... With the engine warmed up and hi beams on you should get 15.5v @ 5000 rpm at the battery terminals.

You've probably got a vacuum hose loose or undone. Check all the lines under the tank. Set the idle between 1200 - 1400 after the engine is warmed up.
That's a cool lid. Too bad it won't work with my yellow viffer.
+1 carbon can. If you trash it make sure you plug any other lines that go to it.

Our bikes our made to run on 87 octane. I have run 93 and 87 and see no difference.....except in my pocket.
DANG, why did you change the oil so much? I changed mine at 600, 3000, 6000, etc... Even that's way ahead of the manual.
If you're comfortable with stock bars I'd leave it alone and sell the Heli's. For myself I can't ride with the stockers.
That is a great looking bike. It's gotta be for show. It would take days to clean it after a ride.
