It sounds like you are getting close to resolving this issue - the PG appears to be the trouble maker here.
It could be that someone had them apart...they are off of a bike that only has 5,800 miles on the clock but after 25 years it could be someone...
Check the vacuum valve on the fuel petcock. Easy to do - use a Mityvac, connect to the vacuum hose to see if the diaphragm is working. [IMG]
