Did you carefully inspect and clean all the circuits when you had the carburetors off?
Can't speak to the VF400F but on the VF500F slip-ons do require re-jetting to get things back to (or close to) stock HP.
Nice to have you aboard! The FM notes the valve lash should be inspected at 600, 8k, 16k, 24k, and every 8k thereafter. As you are pulling...
Those three boilermakers at lunch add up Tink!
Cylinder '2' is the front left cylinder. One spark unit controls 2 & 4 and one controls 1 & 3. [IMG]
A first rate post. This answers a bunch of questions I have had on exhaust systems for V-Four engines. Many thanks for taking the time to...
Factory Pro is a better way to go (for the VF500F), IMO. The Dynojet kit (for the VF500F) requires drilling the vacuum slides the FP kit does not.
Great link!
Good deal on the Factory Pro kit. These are the best. Are you a new owner? If so it is best to read up on the VF500F's valve train and the...
+1 on the pics. This is a nifty tidbit. I am curious to see if this is a direct plug and play on a First Gen (VF500F).
+1 Here is a link to the Factory Pro Tutorial: CV Carb Tuning Procedures
Slip-ons rob power. There are no free lunches with a VF500F. You'll need to re-jet to get things dialed in (back to stock performance).
On a follow up note regarding the idle mixture screws AKA pilot screws - to adjust these: First set all to 2 turns out from being - gently -...
Got it, thanks!
A better drawing from the FM. I am always impressed when I study these drawings - India ink on Mylar. Honda had some very talented draftsman...
Interesting stuff! The 1-4-3-2 order makes sense but on the Kawi image above it looks like the carbs are feeding the 1-2 and 3-4 cylinders not...
Re. the pilot screw (AKA idle mixture screw) - this is a 'fuel' screw meaning that when you turn it out, it increases or 'richens' the mixture.
Welcome aboard! 5,100 on the clock is nice indeed and a shout out on being the original owner. Not sure what part you are referencing - here...
Also, the slides are a different part numbers on all three model years. Part of the quirkiness of the VF500F. I believe - though haven't...
Nice project. Keep up the great work!
