Stock lever position 5 pulled all way in 1st gear. Revs normal, start to rise as lever approx 25 mm from bar.

Yup it does that. I have no problem 2 finger clutching with it, only happens in first gear as far as I know.
I’d stick the new ones back on the shelf and keep using the originals.
