My VTEC is smoooth!!! I have also heard warnings about VTEC and corners not mixing well. I have never been thrown off in a corner due to VTEC...
That should not be a problem... My dealer told me that it was o.k. to skip the 16k valve adjustment as long as the bike seems to be running fine....
