If you decide to remove the rad., drain the system first.

Are the pilot screw o-rings present & in good condition?
I wouldn't worry about trying to find that. Just use the correct metric deep socket.

Consider replacing the starter solenoid. Maybe there is high resistance across the high current contacts.
