Have you REALLY removed the clutch lever and removed and inspected the clutch bush? It's the round bushing that the post from the master cylinder...

Valve clearances that have tightened up can cause low compression numbers too... and tight valves don't make noise letting you know something's up.
Keep in mind the 85 and 86 brackets are different. On the 86, the tail light is mounted to the rear cowl.
