I bought an '87F2 last summer that had tried that swap, and the gen3 engine only mounted to a few points, unlike the original engine with alot...

VF500 engine problem posts here usta be weekly and monthly, mostly valve-related. they've broken alot of too-innocent guys' hearts and bank...
Overheated, blown-gasket heads may warp, and on a VFR, surfacing the head is not possible with the gear drive. check ebay for used parts.

You won't be riding soon unless you find a bike that runs. too many 500 parts are NLA.

Without the OEM front rubber-damped sprocket, noise and vibration will increase. an alloy rear sprocket wears out alot quicker than steel.

I worked on a gen3, taking off the fairings, and it was a tough job, with different-sized fasteners, hidden fasteners, and snap-together fittings....

Or you could use the proper screw (like on the other 3 cylinders) to seal the vacuum hole and remove the hose entirely. :rolleyes:
Looks like a hard hit, and frame may be damaged in the steering head area.
Eh, Steve, have you inspected the cam lobes yet ?? :humper: They will bite you if they're pitted or otherwise damaged, common on many older VF...
