a bad engine temp sensor can "think" the bike is cold and add too much fuel, and a bad thermostat is another suspect.
very doubtful the solenoid is bad. instead check for continuity on the START pushbutton. you can check solenoid by measuring for some resistance...
is here a difference between capping 2 hoses per head or using a hose to connect the 2 chrome tubes ??
be sure you have enough "freeplay" in the cables after things are connected !
