NOT BAD as pumps always click when they're actively pumping but should stop when carbs are full. I don't think it's good for any bike to sit...

with the idle screw backed out, all butterflies should be closed 100%. or maybe u cracked/damaged a boot while mounting carbs

No reserve setting on 4th gens; instead a fuel gauge+warning light. First step for checking fuel pump is to bypass pump relay.
What ????????? Do electrons click ?? No, voltage regulators never click, so must b somethin else, like a fuel pump maybe.

You should check the stator output voltages. with the bike running you can unplug the 3 yellow wires from the r/r and measure AC voltaGE from...
unless you've poked a .012" steel wire or guitar string through the slow jet you can't be sure it's clean ! Inspect the plug from the lazy...
unplug the connector on top of the start solenoid to check for melted or burned wires. i'd suspect that your charging system is kaput.
