check for any air leaks or hoses that are loose in the throttle body area. do you have a service manual for reference ?

did u do any rejetting to dial-in the non-stock pipe ? seems like some minor carb adjustments might be needed to optimize for an aftermarket pipe...
push it through and remove it, replace with new. need that filter working or youll be doing alot of carb cleans.
