How many volts at the battery at idle and at 4000 rpm or so?
100% of the time I've seen a jumpy tach on a 500, it has been the battery. Even one that can start the bike.
You're right. I went out and checked a VF750F motor in my shop before work. No "UP" markings or reliefs. I think I kind of remember that now...
The boots have an engine side and carb side. And they need to be "clocked" correctly for the carbs to seat correctly, there are little "reliefs"...
