Ishark, my bike doesn't have the Z-AFM, they just dyno'd the bike and built me a custom map, so I can't speak to how the AFM is mounted, or how the auto-mapping works; sorry. :/

duccmann, glad you're getting use out of those bags, they'd just be stuck to the inside of my garage door still if you hadn't taken them! :)

I have this bike for a little more then 6 months now.
I hated it after the first 500 km's.
    Sorry to say, it's terrible.
There is no power and the gas-response is a fun-killer BIG time.

There is nothing good about this bike but the sitting position and the way it looks, all the rest is bad.

However, I got me a Don Guhl GUTS flash (racing ECU flash)......whoehaaaa....that changed the bike!!!
And not just a little bit like the z-bomb, It turned it into a completely new bike that feels the way Honda should have done their work in the first place.

Before you sell your bike, consider a Dohn Guhl racing flash of your ECU, it will turn your bike into a CBR1000RR competitor, so fast and powerful that it's very hard to believe.
After this flash you do not complain anymore nor want to sell it.

    No Joke.

Only the exhaust needs to be changed, not because of the sound with open flap.
But the Honda exhaust is just ugly.
I'm thinking about a Dam as that manufacturer lives around my corner and I have one on my 800 and it looks and sound brilliant.

After that, it will be my best bike ever.
Tested a few bikes over the years as I'm riding for 32 years now, never seen a bike going from so bad to so good with just a flash.

Great write-up, thanks for sharing. I have the 2012, and some similar issues. Planned mods for this winter are Guhl ECU reflash to improve 1st/2nd and overall performance, and front fork DMr Performance Suspension treatment (not cheap!!!). Other than those two gripes, love my VFR to bits!

Good to read. I just bought a new 2010 (in 2016). Still in break in but amazed! I do have the center stand and the DCT.

I also bought a 2010 vfr1200 a year ago and it rocks. I've added a few things :Akropovik exhaust, sliders from trex racing, custom seat so I don't slide around.

I had a recall letter, they inspected my drive-shaft and it was fine for the next 10000km.
In a few months they are going to replace it.

Other then that, I have 50Kkm on the clock and it's going strong, no problems at all.

The Guhl flash still works it's magic and I can't be more happy with this bike.

This is a wonderful bike after the Don Guhl flash, they are sold cheap over here, get one and flash it :love_heart:

So far the best bike I ever owned.

Don't, get a Don Guhl flash instead, about the same price but far better results.
I do not know of anybody having a PC-V and having good results on a VFR1200....don't go there, waste of money.

    Amazon?
    You won't find it there.

    Contact him here: http://www.guhlmotors.com/

About 400 USD incl shipping and 1 day return.

    Give him a call.

Also there is a lot more on this and other fora, he's good at this.

Thanks I will call tomorrow. I did go to the website on my phone and red info on the GUTS install but it was only for CBR's. When I call I'm sure they'll get me straight. Thanks again.

I've got a 2013 vfr1200f that I bought last year with 5k miles on it. Was mildly disappointed with its performance and mpg until I put a Two Brothers exhaust on it. It also has a center stand, Givi trunk and GPS. Heated grips are next. It now sounds and looks better along with slightly better mpg and performance. I'm much happier now. I've also got a 2002 blackbird and a 2003 vfr800 with abs and stock hard bags to round out my Hondas. All great bikes in their own ways.
