We can't, we all use the same technique. ;)

Go back and look at the first photo in this thread.

My "technique" was to buy a 11K mile VFR for the bodywork, seat and solo cowl/pad. The only original pieces are the fuel tank and taillight cowl. The taillight cowl will also get replaced, but I have some re-enforcement to do to the new piece.

I still need to tell the story about the new VFR that "donated" the bodywork. It has "issues", but for what I paid for the whole bike, it was a no-brainer. Just the bodywork is worth WAY more than I paid. Plus when I'm done, I'm gonna have a 11K, complete running chassis that will sell for more than I paid for everything. I will end up getting paid to install "fresh" bodywork on this bike.

That rocks, I wish we could find the same kind of deals in Cali. Seems near impossible to get a deal on anything regardless of the mileage to pick it up.

    Rode it today, to work.

    Couple notes:

    Fucking sounds amazing.

Fucking runs amazing. It was already jetted by me for a 4-1 that got used on the RC26. When I put stock mufflers on for a few years, I thought, "Fuck it. Let's see how it runs". Well it still ran great, even at altitude. I toured NE British Columbia in the mountains for a week with no issues. Thought that was interesting. Pretty sure it has 125 mains in it. So I was pretty damn confident the jetting would be on. It is.

I might have to add some ride height to the rear shock. But it desperately needs tires. I have them already mounted to another set of wheels ready for the swap. I will reserve final judgement until then.

I does handle great, and I really don't have anything directly comparable. The RC26 is the closest, as these forks and wheels came off that bike. But the RC26 has considerably more ride height in the rear, 87 linkage and lower clip-ons.

    Happy Friday everybody!

Lunch break at the Future of Flight parking lot, overlooking Pain Field and Boeing with the Cascade Mountains in the distance.

    Ok... Real ride.

After some clicks on the rear shock, everything is cool. Really cool.

About 100 miles after work. This is in Tolt by the Tolt River. Actually got behind a grey VTEC outside of Fall City for a bit.

Kevin Schwantz helmet on a VFR...

    Blasphemy.

Same thing Freddie Spencer and Nick Ienatch said at Freddie's school. That was funny.

And then I pulled out my original Freddie Spencer Arai Supervent for him to sign and all was forgiven.

    Hey... wasn't that a 750? Oh yeah...

    PXL_20250408_012407740.jpg

Is it the exact correct font? Nah...

    PXL_20250408_013049365.jpg

Pretty decent and close enough for a bike that is far from original? Yah.
