Fuck me right in the ass.

Header clamps on rear cylinders vibrated loose on shitty Minnesota roads. Midwest Honda in in Iowa trying to help. I never messed with those nuts. Should have checked them I guess.

I had the bolts vibrate off on a kawi ZL600 back in the 80s, lost the gasket too. Could always drill em and safety wire it. But not worth it imho...Whats the fastest you took it up to? Miles per Hour we're tawking???

My ass still hurts. No performance awards.

To close the loop on the electrical issue.... The only reason the kickstand was related was because it's one of many components that funnel through the same ground buss. With a bad connection at the ground buss it was just the straw that broke the camels back. Eventually, turning the hi-beams on or hitting the brake lever would kill the motor.

Rough MN roads vibrated the nuts loose that hold the header clamps to the head. Midwest Honda Suzuki Kubota helped me get back under way. I was willing to pay to put it in the shop but was offered all the tools I needed and replacement nuts and allowed to fix it in the parking lot.

So of all the problems I had on the road, they were about the only things I had never touched during the resurrection/custom build.

Glad you are home. Well, hopefully you got rid of your gremlins. Usually a 5th gen is pretty darn dependable. So is a 6th gen so one right in between ought to do okay...

Unfortunately I didn't have time to take a lot of photos. Didn't get the Welcome to WI sign this time 'round. I did run the GoPro a bit and maybe there's 2min of video there worth sharing.

No kidding eh? exhaust bolts usually break off, not vibrate loose

Definitely still a little sore but my hearing has mostly returned to normal from the wind and iPod noise.

If interested, you can find more info on the 5th/6th gen marriage by clicking the 5th gen resurrection link in my signature

Congratulations and glad you made it home safe and sound. I hope your property in Wisconsin was as you wished it to be.

For riding 2,000+ miles in four days while dealing with electrical and exhaust bolt issues you are hereby awarded the Big Manly Man of the Week Award.

Sorry I missed this thread when first posted. Otherwise I would have wished you a safe and fun trip. But seeing as I missed it, have a safe and fun trip Tink. I sure enjoyed my 5 weeks in the saddle.

My present and continuing journey in the truck and fifth wheel is turning out to be hell. Remember my issues is Vegas with the bike? That is nothing compared to what I have had happen on this trip. And I can't wait to get home. Other than a five say rest when I got home from R3, I have been on the move since April 24th I think.

But great long bike trips, regardless of the happenings enroute, are great. ENjoy and good luck in the sale. WHy don't you just move that property to south west British Columbia. I will buy it iff you . I mean you designed the 6.5th gen bike didn't you?

Actually I think maybe so. I will give this retirement thing a year and see how it goes. I will need the money. Hell, I will be staying at the KOA for a few days at Yellowstone and it costs something like 79 bucks a night. And I am providing the sleeping quarters!
