Very tempting given it's so close by........and a model I've never owned - or ridden - but have heard good things about. Look at that red seat! :band:

Just got off the phone with seller. Said he couldn't find the right tank logo so used that one. And yes, tank and everything else has been repainted.

Thanks.....guess those are small things that could be addressed. Seller said it runs almost perfect. Has gone through entire bike including carb work & syncing. Tires are also new.

I'm picking it up on Tuesday. ;)

for that much cash someone could find a much better V-4 like a VFR700/750 from '86 or '87 and have a far more reliable engine.

I was trying to figure out the petcock setup on this model. It has the traditional circular main valve on the side of the tank - but another petcock underneath?

Seems to be a desirable model in the market......

    Ha......we're good,brother.

I sincerely appreciate your take on things but truly not everything is black and white when it comes to buying and selling these bikes. Lots of variables. And what you said wasn't untrue. I love my 2nd Gen bikes and only got this one because I've always wanted one and this one's only a 1.5 hour drive away....and is in good enough nick, I won't have to spend time or money on it to get her up to speed.

    Make sense?

That is a "restore", but seems pretty nice. The rear signals are an odd choice.

Baz, you would love a properly sorted 500.

Thanks, Capt. On the phone the guy sounded pretty meticulous about getting stuff right. Couple odd items I won't mention quite yet but no deal breakers.

I asked him point blank how she rode and he replied "Incredible!", so there's that.

I should also add I didn't try to go after the bike until the end of the day - was thinking why do I need another 500....I already have the '06 Ninja....which is super fun to ride! But alas......after the phone conversation I pulled the trigger. The price we agreed on was less too, which didn't hurt.

Thanks and spot on SM. I'm very curious how much I will like this version. Have heard some good things. And hey...that red seat! :)

Forgot to mention - it also comes with a "parts bike". No details beyond that, but guess I'll find out soon enough....

Anyone who has seriously rebuilt a 500 usually has a parts bike.

Correct. While it looks like the other valves mounted right to the tank, its just the selector. Petcock is inboard bolted to the bottom on the tank and there is no internal plumbing.

PM me about some proper rear winkers when it arrives. It looks like it deserves them.

OK thanks - I will definitely be in touch. These blinkers are different from the ones used on the other 1st and 2nd gens, then?
