I just did the blow through test. I blew the way that fuel would enter it, and air went right out the other side. So does this certainly mean it's junk?

Will a fuel pump from a VFR1000 work?

Oh and the top of the pump looked almost new, and very clean. What should I look for on the contacts or such?

Fuel pump was working again last night, but the bike wouldn't start. I'm guessing the carbs need a good cleaning. How fast/much should the pump be pushing out?

get those carbs out and cleaned...

feul pump should be pumpin' out a pretty steady stream of gas (imagine ya poked a hole in the bottom of a big blue sparkletts water bottle with a nail)

Alright, fuel pump is fine. Getting the carbs cleaned tomorrow and whatever it needs. Ordering some new brake pads as well. I bought the top box for the airbox and painted all the body panels flat black for now. I also need an air filter, but more importantly, a gas cap assembly. Mine was corroded and I couldn't get it open without breaking the lock part and ect.

Where can I find one? I need to get one asap and there are non on ebay. It looks like this:

From the business cards I gather your from Pa., when looking for a fuel cap be sure it is not a California version as that will not work on your bike. California caps are not vented.

Alright, I will keep that in mind. Know where I could find one though? Is there another part to that cap I need other than what's in the picture?

Found a gas cap, but my tank is just too rotten I think. I found one in UK but the guy won't ship it. There aren't any with decent prices here. Will any other body or style or year of gas tank work?

Still no luck with the gas tank, gonna try to clean mine as best I can.

But the bike is running! Carbs were really gunked up. Starts up and idles nicely, but I'm waiting on the air filter to take it for a spin.

So again, anyone have, or know of a gas tank I could buy that isn't $200+

Something worth trying is the "Fuel tank sealer" from Plating Kits Electroplating Kits Aluminum Anodizing Kits Powder Coating Systems Metal Polishing And Buffing Supplies - Caswell Inc.

AT about $40, it takes less that an hour to do, cures within 36 hours, a hard epoxy liner. Pinholes no problem.

I'm sure many other products work as well, but i've not tried them after finding something i've had good results with.

It's the experience that one way or another got us all to this fabulous site , eh ??

Sorry, $200+ is what it is gonna run you for a decent tank.

New filler cap wil run you about $140, not cheap at all.

Thanks! So did you use it while your tank was still nasty and rusty inside? What did it look like afterwards?

I got a cap for $60 new from overseas, we'll see how it works once it gets here.

In other news, my turn signals don't work. I turn on the key, and just the front two markers come on. The rear do not. When I push the left or right turn signal, the corresponding light turns off, but doesn't flash, and the other one stays lit. The rears still do nothing. I do have one brake light out, but I doubt that's the problem. Could it be as simple as the rear marker lights are burnt?

Thanks! I am currently trying some things to clean my tank, but I may just bid on that. Is that rust on the inside, or fuel?
