Thanks, my dads garage, it is huge, that's only the bottom section lol.

Not sure on stickers, maybe a few.

    Thanks.

So, any ideas about my high idle or getting the exhaust on properly?

try loosening up the mounting bolts on the fran and getting the exhaust situated on the engine first then tighten it down... or you may need to heat up the pipe so you can give it a little tweak back into position... it sounds like its bent a tad.

your high idle... did you turn down the idle screw? and are your throttle cables the right legnth? make sure the little deal wher the cables are bracketed to the carb (it has a little nut on it) give that a turn to loosen it up a bit.. if thats not it is sounds like you are dumping a ton of fuel into it and you need to lean it out a bit...

Loosen the bolts on the fran? What's the fran?

I have the header pipes (if you call them that) on the bike, but the yosh 4-1 is the part I can't get on the whole way, leaks just a tad.

When I first start the bike cold, it can run without the choke, and is around 1000rpms, then after about 20 seconds, it climbs and eventually stays around 3000rpms.

    Where is the idle screw?

fran = frame.... the idle screw.... If your sitting on the bike reach down with your left hand and stick it inbetween the carbs sort of.. there should be a big black plastic knob....that is the idle screw turn it and the idle should come down.

Got it, went down to around 1900 rpm, much better, and as low as I could get it.

The throttle cables seem to have just enough slack in them, however, when I twist the throttle in the opposite direction and hold it, the RPM are perfect, right at 1200rpm.

    Thoughts?

RPM's should be lower than 1200..... but your in the right direction... it sounds like you have a short cable. there are "adjustments " on the cables you can make at the throttle where the cables go into the housing and where they connect at the carbs...

I saw the adjustments, but if the cable isn't tight, those adjustments shouldn't help should they?

if your throttle isn't returning all the way to "bottom" then you have some problem... not sure without actually seeing it..... maybe TOECUTTER has an idea

Are there any adjustment screws I should be looking for?

Vacuum leaks(bad carb boots) can cause a high idle. It is also possible that the carbs are so off sync that one or two are fully closed and the idle adjust is fully backed out, but the other carbs are staying open and holding the idle high. Like others said, make sure there is some slack in the throttle cables. Another thing to check is the choke cable. A friend of mine has a katana 750 that had a high rough idle and poor gas mileage. I initially suspected carb boot leak but then realized the choke plungers were being pulled up slightly. The previous owner overtightened the choke cable.

Alright, I'll check that out too, thanks.

Another question, I'm getting a frame with a title. So, I'm going to swap the frame to be able to have a title.

So, do I just take the signed title to the notary and all is well, or do I need a reconstructed title thingy?

What they don't know won't hurt them, right?

does yout tilte have a place for the engine numbers? if so you may have to have the bike together so the numbers can all corospond when you register it.... hopefully someone with experience with this aspect of a rebuild will chime in...

yeah. your engine has a serial number on it....it should match the one that is on the title (at least some states do it that way) verify that this is or is not needed , if not then you should be good to go with the registering of the frame, of at least get it titled in your name...registration comes later.... you still have a bit before spring riding gets here...
