if a different flywheel is not available just chuck the stock one in a lathe and hack at the outer side of it. that is what we do, it is just a thick metal layer put there to be heavy anyways.

a huge weight savings would be an aluminum subframe. on the 6th gen i have i was considering doing this but went stock for bike resale-ability. i could mock up an have an aluminum subframe in place in an afternoon, and keep the ability to carry a passenger but loose most of the luggage mounts. if you didnt need to carry a passenger ever, then even more weight could be saved.

theres always the swingarm swap too, but really the SSS is one of the VFR's most prominent features so i would keep it.

ditching the front headlight assembly totally would save weight, if streeting the bike i would gut the headlight housings and direct wire some LEDs in.

You might be on to something here. Instead of the Feds cracking down on the ganja, maybe it should be mandatory that legislators toke before assembly.

Honestly I think that's what's caused this thread to carry on as long as it has... Pipe dreams

C'mon guys we were talking 150hp... What happened to that? Now we are only talking 130?

so did you miss the dyno chart on the first page or something? head work by itself, made power everywhere, bottom midrange and 10 hp up top.

Fuck it. Nitrous ..... bitches! BOO YAH!!!!:vtr2:

There is always the crazy STS style turbo option. Most engines seem to take about a 10% increase in HP before you have to monkey with the ECU. Figure a PCV might be able to handle the re-map for a turbo pushing about 6 psi? That ought to get you near that 130 HP mark.

Toro charger you say? Is that like a Toro leaf blower into the intake? I saw some truck guys do that and it really did work.

I'm in the UK so have a "euro" ECU already ! I don't believe there is a difference on the VFR only on the RC45.

Any modern 600 has more horse, more peak torque, and weighs around 75-100 lbs less than a VFR800. Only thing the VFR has is a little more low end torque.

If you wanna go fast, find a relatively recent GSX-R 600. You should be able to pick one up for 3 grand in solid condition. As the quoted poster says, you could dump 3 grand into a VFR800 and a gixxer will still smoke it like a fine cigar in the hands of even a decent rider.
