This is an attempt to promote a new book by an old college room mate. His name is Jim Malusa and his book is called Into Thick Air: Biking to the Belly Button of 6 Continents and it is a hoot. Jim is not your average long-distance cyclist or botanist. He rode to the lowest point on 6 continents and has some great tales to tell. It is very entertaining; he has a wonderful sense of humor. It is a kick. It is easily available from Amazon as well as bookstores. He is doing a promo tour around the country (currently east coast) and has been featured on NPR; Discovery Channel sponsored him for some of the travels. So, if you'd like to read a good one, dial it up! (It is cheap too!) So even YOU can afford it DerStuka!
Thanks for letting me chat it up!

He started out full roadie and then put some 'cross-like wheels on to handle the terrible "roads" he had to traverse in many countries. I haven't finished the book yet so I don't know if he switched over to a Mountain bike later in the trips. This guy is fearless.
