A lesson there for a LOT of people

 

I can relate. We here in Canada just love to pay more taxes. Our tax free date used to arrive mid June. Now I hear it is mid July. Can't wait until we reach mid August.

I wished we had a flat tax here. If your annual income with no tax shelters, is $50K, then you pay X% of $50K in taxes. No tax shelters allowed. You think Elon musk can not afford that? FFS.

 

Musk, Bezos and Mark Fuckerberg can afford billions of $$$ a year without changing their lifestyle, they just choose not to

 

Right now he rides to live and lives to ride, to paraphrase classic 70's t-shirts. When he retires and his income drops to "mere" hundreds of thousands, his residence will change and he will wish he had made the decision much earlier.

Musk lives a pretty plain lifestyle considering his worth which, btw, much of it is tied up in his businesses, so his personal net income is much less than his trillionaire worth.

If not for Musk living in the US, investing in business here, and not having half or more of his income stripped from him, our space program would be in a world of hurt right now. Falcon 9 and Falcon Heavy are the only US medium and heavy launchers in service and Falcon 9 only man rated launcher in service. The Blue Origin BE-4 engine has been found at fault for the New Glenn explosion, grounding the New Glenn and ULA Vulcan (which was already grounded due to GEM63XL nozzle issues). SLS/Orion is mission specific for the moon and will not be used for anything else. There are a few ULA Atlas 5 boosters left, but they are already spoken for and will not be diverted for other uses.

 

Once we start stealing our neighbor's money, we're no better than Russia.

People who want more should earn more, not steal more. Equal and fair and right aren't the same things.
