So in my cages when I switched from Dino Oil to Full Synth. I did a flush and filter change and then another oil and filter change 500mi later to get as much of the Dino oil out of the engine as I could.. Im considering swapping out to Mobil 1 on the 03 VFR and was curious as to the method that everybody is using to get this accomplished... Please answer the poll and provide me with info on the logic with doing it your way.
I have run Semi Synthetic in mine since new and will likely keep on. Same with the 03 Duramax. But to be honest with you, I don't really know if there is that much of a difference. I suppose if your really get down to the brass tax, in theory there is a benefit, but for day to day riding, I just don't know. Someone more in the know may have a different opinion. Now down to your original question, I also don't see any benefit, other than to the retailer selling you the oil and filter, to flush or do a short turn around on the oil changes. The bike has been ridden for "X" number of years on dino oil and both lubricate well. SO just change it, and when it is due for its next oil change, change it again.
My main concern with this bike is the previous owner was somewhat vague on what he's run in it prior. I know that over the course of the winter it is going to get a full fluid change out because again a whole lot of vaugeness when it comes to whats been done when. its got 25k on it and has never had the valves done. Yes I know there are two camps on that subject some that stick with the reccomended intervals and some that say run it until you have to do it. Just trying to get a feel for what the members here think as they have more VFR specific info and experience than I do.
