Taste in our significant others is less a topic of dissention than what motor oil is best.
If it works for you, good.
Me, I use Rotella 5w-40, because when the ice has finally left the roads, it's not at all unusual to ride at zero degrees, or lower. 10w-40 won't idle at those temps as a general rule, and 5-40 will, if poorly.
As a 30+ year vehicle mechanic, is believe the 5-40 offers faster lube in the morning, and given that it's SG, rated, it covers all gas engine needs, and the diesel c-4 is the highest available.
I'm sure the others are fine, but this one makes me believe I'm happy, and have the best. Isn't that what makes your choice of a significant other the best deal for you?

Shell Rotella 5-40 and a K&N oil filter for the past 10,000 miles with no complaints what so ever. It starts and runs great, shifts are smooth and positive. This Rotella exceeds all current engine manufactures specification requirements for auto, diesel and commercial use. If changed on a regular basis with filter most all high quality oils will suffice for any motorcycle provided they meet the motorcycle manufacturers specifications. Just another's opinion, lets start em and ride.

I use Mobil 1 in my bikes for the same reason, and actual independent article. Although it can be hard to find.

Yeah, to type "synthetic oil" or "Amsoil" into the forum search bar would just be an unreasonable amount of work.

What do the pros use? I'm certain they have long ago established what's one of the best and have found a way to use that AND get sponsorship money. Ya think?

When I built Formula Vee motors twenty years ago, it was established from dyno testing which rings, crank seals, what installed piston clearance, which bearings, and which oil could generate a couple of extra horsepower.
Since those motors had to use stock parts, and had rigid limitations, a three or four HP advantage was stuff that could take you to the nationals, if you were a talented driver.....
For those motors, it was Kendall Racing. Interestingly, it was not the best oil in a Cosworth Ford(Formula Ford) An English brand, whose name I've forgotten was best in that motor.
It may well be that different oils have advantages in different generation VFRs. In the absence of serious testing lab results, and dyno testing, it's sort of like a church or a significant other. If you like it, good.

Wow ... now THAT is a serious necro-bump! LOL!

Good on ya for using an existing thread. I've never used the Honda oil, but I do use the Honda OEM Coolant and Fork Oils.

Pretty sure it says right on the jug who produces it for Honda. I don't recall the company off hand

^ exactly... I use only Amsoil just because I have seen personally the inside of engines that use it. Nuff said, use what you want.

Vs engines of similar maintenance intervals running another brand? My point is if the engines you've seen were well maintained to begin with, they probably will look good.

Yep, can't comment on maintenance though, vs. what other brands. you're right though, if one was to take care of there stuff, I'm pretty sure they'd all be good. but when a vfr v4 is torn down that used Amsoil from the start that and a couple other Honda engines it's hard to argue the point. as I've also seen my fair share of engines that have been neglected too. So hard to say just what was how and why. But for me cheap insurance, but yea I've used GN 4 in other machines with decent results, so pick your poison. The Viffer here is worth the extra to me.

I was able to determine it was Valvoline until the mid 90's and now it is blended by ExxonMobil.

It's been a long time since there's been an oil thread...oh wait, this is an old thread. I can only say that I'm an Amsoil dealer, so commenting wouldn't be cool.
