I also purchased a new VFR back in Feb this year. I found as the bike loosened up, now 6,000Km, it just got better & better. Also possibly my technique improved. Also had some great mentoring & help from local Kiwibikers. Looking forward to better weather so I can more Km's up, but really enjoy the VFR, no regretes. Very comfortable on long distance & can almost!!! keep up with the "Big Bikes". Try Kiwibikers.co.nz great forums there also, they are only too happy to help.
I also are older but the VFR suits my height perfectly about 5ft 10.5" able to put both feet on ground when stopped. Have adjusted the brake lever, have not tweeked the suspension as yet. A heavy bike but very forgiving in the early stages when getting used to it. Now many hours after to wipe the smile from my face when back from a good ride.

Woohoo! Will be getting the pipes and cat-converter gutted next week. Can't wait to see the difference in decibels and performance... (hopefully there will be some!)

On a more subdued note... :)

I delivered my bike to Doctor Robert yesterday.
Revalve and non-progressive springs in front, and a different spring on the Ohlins.

I am not a kiwi, but it's one of the places that I want to live for a while. I think when my stepson graduates my wife and I will move out there for 6 months or a year. I am a nurse so I can work pretty much anywhere I want and my wife is excited about traveling again. (I was a traveling nurse when we met) Hopefully I'll be able to come there and bring my VFR with.

    welcome aboard VFRNZ:wave:

so is your bike a gen 5 or 6?

Im assuming its a gen 6? i used to have a VTR 1000 in that dark blue. it really rocks in the sun, in the shadow it looked black, in the sun all the metal flake would light up. looked very cool.( actually similar to what my current colour does in the sun). anyway good to have another kiwi on the boards from this side of the world. theres a few ex pats floating around, like K1W1 you'll see from time to time(he's in the US).

    enjoy your ride.

    Hi All.... another Kiwi here...

I'm in Wellington... just got hold of a 86' 750F... wrapped with it!!

Only just getting back into riding after a 10 year break... (kids get in the way... they dont fit in the tank bag like they used to when they get bigger...LOL)

Happy to find a forum dedicated to VFR's... just DL'ed a 86 manual from the forums... saved me a heap ordering it...

    Cheers!!
