    Hi folks - maduncle here.

    I lurk around the:

1/. Netrider forum in Australia - because i ride.
    2/. Honda SOHC4 forum - because I built a unique CB750F2 cafe racer.
3/. Hondatwins forum - because I am building a CB450K0 Black Bomber cafe racer

And now, the VFR world forum because I bought a 1989 VFR750 (after previously owning a 2001 VFR800) and I plan to customise/cafe racer this bike.

First steps will be to get the stock bike roadworthy and registered and ride it as is for awhile, and then start to work on some stripped back cafe racer designs for it. I probably need to finish the CB450 first, but O know I won't be able to resist playing with the VFR...

So more soon when I begin the project.

    Hey uncle and welcome aboard.

Most of the guys here are good folks and have tons of info on some of the older VFRs, so they might be able to assist. I guess I just volunteered them?

Anyway, while this is a VFR forum, most of us like all kinds of bikes. Personally, I'd like to see and hear a little more about those cafes that you built or are building. Don't be shy - post some pics!

    Well then,

Here is the 1977 CB750F2 Cafe racer I built (with plenty of help) over the past 12 months and just sold.

Here is how my 1965 CB450 Black Bomber arrived from Colorado.

It looks a bit better now as I rebuild it.

And here is my 1989 VFR750.

The fairings are pretty rough, so I will get a quote on restoration and as another option I will see what I can find in RC30 style that may fit. I want to keep the handlebars at the stock ride height, so that may interfere with RC30 fairings - am I right?

    Very nice cafe!

I don't know the answer to your fairing questions.

Welcome, and I love the 750F2. You'll find a thread here from Donald Branscom, who is building a 750 Cafe as well, nearly finished.

So now I have been riding the VFR around for a month or so, new tyres and brakes help a lot.

I am an unstoppable tinkerer who cannot leave a stock bike alone, so I have resigned myself to the fact I am going to play with this thing.

And I just can't stop looking at the fairings and wondering 'what sort of bike could I have if I took them off'?

I am not thinking street fighter, more a modern interpretation of the cafe racer concept - lighten the bike up, clean up the look, go with a solo seat.

Now, I need to look at indicators, mirrors, headlamp and gauges for a start before I go ripping off fairings, so any ideas would be welcome.
