    Good morning fellow VFRWorld members,
Beware of a new user with the "ivancole486" username.
He got me in touch with a "friend" named Robert Loris who said he had VFR parts.
After a long email conversation and $50 being sent my Venmo, I ended up with no email replies & no parts.
I know I'm new on the VFRWorld lists, but I've been a HawkGT & SuperHawk forum member for over 20years (check my username on those).

DON'T trust either of these guys, they're scammers...out to take your money.

    Sincerely,
    Andy

I won't buy from any "member" unless they have been on here a while and have routinely contributed to and commented on threads. And when they have a "friend" with the parts, that's a huge red flag.

jpumpyscott tried that shit on me. Poorly.

I got scammed on here last year by someone who knew enough about VFR's to convince me he was real. It was for a lot of money. The screen name was: finn_69

I didn't do the proper checking I should have done. Having belonged to this and other motorcycle specific forums and done many transactions, I thought I was safe. I was looking for a saddlebag and this person had all the right answers as far as years and colors so I never thought I was being scammed until the part never arrived. After sending countless emails, I finally got a response. The person told me to be careful who I send my money to on the internet...

Yeah, I feel your pain. I've taken to paying the extra $$ to NOT send money via "friends & family" options (on Venmo or Paypal) for parts. The only exceptions are people who have LONG histories on the forums.
Had a great experience with asphaltpilot from the VFR forums recently, though. Great seller, with parts as advertised.

These people are dangerous. They have motorcycle specific knowledge and troll forums like this. I think they watch the "wanted" sections and when someone posts looking for an expensive item, they strike. My scam was hundreds of dollars as well. As big as the monetary loss, I am more disappointed knowing I cannot trust anyone on motorcycle forums now. And if you think paypal protection will help you, think again. After getting scammed on ebay for a GPS, paypal is a joke. You need to be careful and be sure who you are buying from. On ebay I check the sellers history and feedback. If it looks suspicious, I don't buy from them no matter ow good the deal is...

I started a thread looking for a center stand.
My inbox was flooded with pics from rando's trying to rip me off.
I finally gave up and bought an aftermarket one from a local shop.

    Buyer beware

Maybe there should be a pinned list at the top so people who are new to the forums know about former scammers.

    Just a thought.

Totally agree with you on your opinion of paypal. I used them for several transactions and everything worked well. Then, an item I ordered on line, from China of course, never arrived. I suspected fraud right off the bat. I found out that there was an item for me at a postal outlet. I looked at the packaging. The address was wrong. The location of the postal outlet was no where near to being the closest to my residence, and the packaging was probably 4 times too small to be the item I had ordered. I did not accept it and tried to get a response from the merchant. The only response from them was that they had sent it and it was signed for and delivered. There was pages of errors in their claims. I started a claim with paypal, and they simply repeated what the merchant said about delivery and closed the claim in favour of the merchant. Paypal sux and I have not used them since. No way I am giving any of my hard earned money to line the pockets at that idiot who started paypal up. He got very rich off of that at many peoples expense.
