You must have gotten one that wasn't made by Exide (not that all Exides are deficient)! Just a lot of the rebadged stuff! Just ask NAPA before they wised up! I think Exide's battery manufacruring div. has changed hands in the recent past too so their quality may be on the rise. I think Johnson Controls is making Die Hards now but I'm not sure. Keep in mind there are only a few battery manufacturers out there. Keep in mind also that just because a manufacturer makes stuff for a private label that doesn't mean that they necessarily make all of the stuff for that said label. East Penn (the makers of Deka) is the best in my opinion. They make a lot of other brand labeled batterries as well. Over the years I've come to check, where possible, who the parent manufacturer(s) of certain products that I resell to my customers are. This is the main reason that I stay away from chain stores with their own private label for the most part. Unless I know who made the part for their label.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your last post! Possibly you're misunderstanding mine quoting your post about the longevity of the DieHard you selected. At one time DieHards were mfg. by a reputable co. and rebadged with the "DieHard" label. Then Sears switched mfg's of the Diehard to EXIDE due to lower mfg costs. As the old saying goes "you get what you pay for" and that's exactly what Sears got. Junk! Since, within the last 5 or 6 years, Sears has changed DieHard mfg's thus they're marketing a better battery. If you've gotten that kind of life from the DieHard in your bike then you've gotten a good battery and you've done all the right things to maintain it. A+

My only experience is with the 6th gen. The only battery that Deka makes that is short enough, has about 1/2 the CCA's of the Yuasa. I don't know if previous gen. VFR's can accommodate the taller Deka batteries.
