I figure I dropped maybe 50 pounds from my R, No more than that. If I am lucky maybe 20 from the F.

    Both beautiful classic Honda V-bikes.

    Love them both. Bravo.

Made a small change, CRF450 rear master cylinder and lopped off the frame tab that held the stock shock adjustment knob.

    Went from this:

Your bike is absolutely gorgeous. I'm in the process of finishing up my '84 VF1000F and was wondering if you could share the details of your rear fender elimination mod? I want to do this to my bike before I put the rear section back together. I have a spare rear fender that I can cut, but I'd like to see how the mod is done before I start. Feel free to share any pics or links you may have for this.

    Thanks!

Tom, did you mount a new tank on the big F? You mention modifying a new flush mount cap tank a few years ago.

Still amazed on how great both look, nice work. I'm still looking for an F project bike to get started on.

Hi guys. Haven't been here in awhile. I pretty much removed most of the vertical portion of the fender and used a plate hanger bracket Seb made and sent me. Ill see if I have any detail pics. If not ill take a couple.

VFRCapn, I still have the tank I mounted a flush mount cap to. Stalled for awhile. I plan to send it off to Moyers for their treatment. It's the only thing I know of that will unequivocally keep a tank rust free.

Then of course there's the paint and new decals after that. And the 1000F frame I modified to take one of my R motors, etc, etc.

Here is a pic of the fender and plate. I really just trimmed the fender portion then smoothed it out leaveving what you see intact. Drilled a couple holes for the plate bracket.

    Seb made the bracket.

Guaranteed to get you pulled over in Indiana! It would be deemed as not being visible. Of course, bending the plate around one of those stretched swingarm mounts is ok....

If you are in a car directly behind the bike it's clearly visible. Even so out here in the wild Wild West you can run a plate under the fender in front of the rear wheel without trouble, mounted turnsignals are optional and I can even ride knobbies on a dirtbike as long as I am not riding like an a$$.
