    Sweet Roads

I grew up in Roanoke, VA and rode alot on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I actualy rode my fastest and most idiotic ride on their on a friends GS1100E that was just reconverted back to a street bike after being used as a drag bike. Somewhere around way to fast to say when I backed off the throttle and told my self that was fun but crazy. The roads between Highway 220 heading North are truley amazing to ride. Their are numerous Waterfalls off the shoulder that you can check out and if you ever get the chance stop by Peaks Of Otter (Milepost 85.6 Peaks of Otter Lodge, Campground, Visitor Center, Restaurant, Gift Shop and Picnic Area) great food and you will not believe the views from the top of the mountian which you can hike up.

That is the one thing I truly miss about home.

The BRP is in my backyard, so I ride it a lot. The best part is between Cherokee and Asheville, unbelievable views. Just watchout for wet, slick, slimey, DARK tunnels. On a sunny day, the tunnels are DARK-DARK. Headlight won't help for the 15 seconds you are in there.

I rode the BRP from stem to stern in '01 on a ZRX1100. It was a great ride with large variation of terrrain, scenery, and road challenges in it's 469 miles. I liked it enough that I am doing in again in reverse (North to South) at the end of April on the VFR. It's a great road. I am also going to revisit the Cherohala Skyway and Tail of the Dragon on this trip. Should be fun, just finished up the bike tonight (except for tires). Ride safe.

    Never Give Up!

We will be over for the Indy MotoGP in September, then have 10 days of touring Virginia and WV, on a BMW1200GS, which we are hiring from Richmond.

I'll probably be picking your brains nearer the date for roads to try and places to see.

I went on Blue Ridge Parkway this weekend (June 15th) and covered almost 150 miles on it. I have to say it's really more of a cruiser/trike route than a sporting route because the fun curves are separated by long stretches and scenery. Plus there are some tunnels that you have to slow down in due to practially nil visibility. It gets a little boring at times.

Also I saw some :mod: there. Even blew by some motorcycle cops thank god they didn't turn around!

I had way more fun on Cherohala Skyway and that is more of a sporting route. Plus the lack of :mod: means I don't have to look over my shoulders all the time. You can see my more comprehensive review of Cherohala Skyway here: http://vfrworld.com/forums/trips-events/14419-cherohala-skyway-tour.html

If anyone ever wants to meet up for a ride let me know. The parkway is only about an hour away for me. Never got to ride with any VFR people before.

Looks like this is the year to finally do this ride.
Starting in Front Royale and just going south.
Take the blueridge parkway south for another xxx miles.
Staying overnight somewhere and coming back the next day.

Looking for advice on where to stay overnight, where to eat,
any good place to stop. Thanks.

    Hey Nozzle!

Looking at at least 2 overnight rides this summer.
Going Ninja :ninja: on the wife. I might get grounded the entire summer for aiming too high. :frown:
Blueridge will likely be mid June.

Planning another overnight ride with coworkers for early July.

I'll let you know. Where is Shaun?

Hey Guys, Let me know if you are coming down this way. I'm about 30 minutes from the BRP.
