I'm in Sydney with a '98 5th Gen. Does anyone have a particularly recommended source for buying chain and sprockets? I'm up for the full set now and don't want to just drop the bike in to the nearest service place (Sydney City Motorcycles) and pay through the nose.

Also, any particular recommendations as to brand of chain?

    Thanks for that Echo.

Not sure if its feasible to mail-order chain & sprocket kits downunder; unfortunately Orange County is not that close to Sydney! Perhaps someone more local to me might have some ideas. I'm just rying to avoid dropping it in to the local mega-dealer workshop and paying accordingly.

Wow - long time ago now, Mark! Well, I got lazy really. I had the bike in for service at Sydney City Motorcycles on Epping Road (the big 40,000km one, $800 - ouch...) and I just got them to do it whilst it was there. I can't remember the cost now but there would not have b een much change from $500. I ended up with a DID chain I think, from recollection. For the record, Sydney City were very good and efficient and very customer-focussed.

After much time looking at dealer websites, accessory warehouses (both overseas and local), evilbay etc... then concerns over quality, freight costs, time etc etc...

I just bit the bullet one day, went to my local Honda shop, both sprockets and chain in stock and over the counter... asked for a discount 'cos I'm a Ulysses member (10%.. yessss)... price then was only a few dollars more... no hassles, no worries, took them home and installed them myself that afternoon... no dramas.

Sometimes the simple way is easiest.. :)

PS... Bronzey... LOVE the yellow beast in your avatar :)

I usually like to shop at BGW they are pretty cheap compared to MCA. They have closed their factory to the public (due to council issue) and just re-opened a shop (for trying on gear) at Campbelltown Motorcycles.
