    I haven't used the EK screw on master link but their chains and rivet links are top notch.:thumbsup:

    Have you checked out Sprocket Specialists for a front sprocket? They make front sprockets from 12-18 teeth for VFR 2002-?

    Looks like this:

    Here's the LINK to the website.

    Feels pretty beefy to me. I have a 16 tooth that I haven't used. Here are some comparison photos of the 16 tooth vs. a well used 17 tooth stock OEM sprocket with the rubber bushing. Notice that the stock sprocket comes with a rubber bushing molded to the sprocket itself giving it a larger/thicker appearance. Also, the teeth on the brand new sprocket specialists sprocket appear to initially come with sharper teeth, and it seems the do indeed. However, they are the same thickness as the stock teeth from what I can tell without measuring and lining them up. The SS sprocket teeth are just a wee bit taller because they come to more of a point than the well used stock sprocket.

    Thanks for the reply!

    That visual comparison is what I've been looking for :thumbsup:.

    I did go to their website, but again, your up close picture helped very much. The photo's on their website leave a bit to be desired.

    Thanks again!

    Great explanation! Looking to do the same on my 08, but can't seem to find a 16 tooth front for it :/

    If the 2008 model uses the same design specs as the 2002/2003 models then the front sprockets from Sprocket Specialists will work for you. 12-18 tooth. Your Choice.

    EDIT: If you want to check if your front sprocket on the 08 is the same as the 02/03 then just cross reference the part numbers in a HONDA OEM PARTS FICHE.

    Thanks for the recommendation. After cross checking, the OEM part #'s are different:
    02 - 07 = 1470893-001
    08 = 7377802-001
    09 = No info

    I am sure someone with an 08 on this site has done the conversion...

    I'd still try giving Sprocket Specialists a call. They manufacture in house and I know for a fact that they are slow to update their website stock numbers(I've had to call about stock before but they've been very friendly and even upgraded my shipping for free when it took them a day longer to make my custom sprocket). So give them a call to see if they have the new ones available or see if they'll start making them. Worth a shot. Be sure to let everyone know if you they do work something out with you.

    It was a good suggestion. I called them and they confirmed that their inventory systems shows that they only go to 2007, and the representative was not sure if/when they would produce an 08 model, or if the 07 would work on the 08.

    I informed them that the OEM model #'s are different on the front sprocket and she said it is better to hold off on the purchase.

    I just started with driving my vfr800 1998 after getting my licence and saw this tread with nice info. Just want to add something. Make sure one gear is even and the other uneven. This will reduce chain wear.
