    Someone suggested running a jumper wire from the ground to the neg terminal and a hot fused to the pos terminal spliced right from the output of the reg/rec? Sound safe?

    Hell no that's not right!

    Considering the RR is only rated to handle about 25-30 amps, you have a major short circuit somewhere. Don't run it for long like that or something is going to burn.

    Your new battery at 13.3 is being pulled down to 12.4 by the 50 amp short circuit!

    You need to trace and ring out the wiring using your meter. Unfortunately your meter doesn't have the diode test feature or you could follow the procedure that pjvtec posted.

    That's your short circuit...

    Those diodes are internally shorted to ground for both the stator output voltage and the battery--that's your 50 Amp short.

    Don't go adding additional grounds and positive leads until you get the RR under control. Get a new RR and a new meter so you can measure diodes.

    bite it off and take the bike to a local shop with experience on these issues.
