...ya know, I have come to the conclusion that any rider who is wearing one of those "helmet mohawks" is a assclown (to put it nicely). I base this conclusion of the "antics" that these mohawk wearing clowns. Today, I saw three of them, all heading down a busy street only wearing shirts/shorts, and pulling wheelies (or trying to pull them). This one rider must live somewhere near me, as I see him every couple of weeks, and he is waving like crazy at me....I hesitate to wave back, but I do, a little.... Ahhhhhhhh.....the agony! :frusty: http://www.thehelmetmohawk.com/
There was a letter to the editor in this months RIDER magazine. The writer was unhappy. Because of the action of the minority, ie pinheads with open pipes & idiots riding monster wheelies down public hi-ways, the rest of us receive unwanted attention from the public & the police. He ended the letter with the sentence, "I've seen the enemy & he is us." How true, how true... KC-10 FE out... lane:
Aaron Frank, former "editor in chief" of Super Streetbike magazine, a publication aimed at the stunter, and most recently returning midwest editor of Motorcyclist wrote in his monthly column on the subject of the "stuntahs". He admits to having an affinity for stunting but he also eludes to the fact that stunting on public roads is creating a poor public image of the sportbike side of our sport for obvious reasons. If you haven't read the column you may want to. You can find it in the Nov. issue of Motorcyclist on pg. 32. He relates a couple incidents where he was profiled by the local law enforcement soley because he was riding a sportbike. There is a time and a place for the stunting. It's not on the public roads.
I have to strongly disagree on that statement KC. IMO the enemy are jackasses (whether they drive cars, or ride bikes) that have no consideration for those around them. Am I perfect, hell no, do I have the brain power to restrain from pulling a wheelie down a busy street with pedestrians all around, from lane-splitting at 85mph, from cutting across 4 lanes of traffic while chatting on my cell phone in hopes of getting home 30 seconds sooner? Yes, amazingly, I do. Do I speed, yes, but I am cautious of where, and when. The difference between those considerate of others around them is just that, we consider how our actions may affect others. Whether that means not revving the hell out of your straight shot exhaust each time you take off at 2am, or not wheeling in a populated area, or what have you. Plenty of empty side streets/parking lots for stunt antics. I speak only for my own actions, not the clowns giving motorcyclists (or motorists) a poor image around me. My point about the mohawks is that it seems to have a high probability of being some squid riding in complete disregard to those around him. Am I generalizing, yes, but based on experience for my area and what I see around me. I should have stated "most san diego area riders that I have seen wearing mohawks." The good thing is, that these squids seem to keep a close proximity to the beach, and do no pollute the backroads with their squidly antics. Unless you are talking of how non-motorcyclists view us, there are enemies, and there are allies.
If I understood the message that writer was trying to send, it is something to the nature of: Non riders/cagers don't go out of their way to not like motorcycles. Most people are far to involved with their own narrow scope of reality to bother caring. So to get the average cager to "care" about motorcycles, a catalyst must be introduced. It could be anything. It could be a little kid seeing a bike go buy & then wanting to ride. Or it could be Mrs Fat, Lazy, Stupid, Ugly Housewife in her mini-van who sees El Squido Grande riding a monster stand-up wheelie between her mini-van and the semi next to her. Now, the stupid housewife, who never gave the slightest concern to motorcycles before, will think ALL riders do that crap. She will not discern between the responsible rider and the squids. No, she will believe ALL riders are idiot & she will hate them. Thus, the "Enemy" is among US. Another example of the "Enemy" would be the holier-than-thou Harley as$holes. They don't know you, anything about you, anything about your bike or anything about your riding skills. They only know you're not riding a HD so therefore you are a scum bag. Who cares if he has open pipes that set off car alarms, his bike was assembled in York, PA so therefore, he is the all knowing center of the motorcycle universe. He makes no effort to encourage other around him to like motorcycles. DAMNIT, he rides a HD so the other around him should simply understand. This is also the enemy. Yes, we can agree to disagree, but the enemy is indeed us. Until all riders walk on water, there will always be someone who hates you simply because you're on two wheels. KC-10 FE out... lane:
Yes sir, I do agree with this statement. I guess all "you and I" can do is to ride considerate and hope that some people here and there will realize that we are not all bad apples.
Just my 2 cents, but you will always have people misunderstanding you or your freedoms. I personally like to treat people with the upmost respect, in return I hope they will respect me and just maybe change one person's mind. If we can do that there is hope that we can convert the enemy to friends.
huh? WTF?! Stuka and Nozzle both agreeing with KC? just this once O.K. with or without "look at me" helmet hair, motorcyclists that make poor decision in public help cagers prejudic and profile. I'd guess the folks Goldwings and BMW RT's are pretty safe from profiling
not a chance! I have seen just as many SNOBBY BMW riders do stupid annoying things on the road as I have the squids. I will show them no quarter:yell: ..............
