Literally just a muffler with an open inlet. You can look through it to see the rear suspension...

Huh...i guess if you ever blow out the 'glass packing, you can just switch cans are ride on instead of opening it up...

You've described the sound quite well. As for the fake can, the other riders at the office had a good laugh... even more when they noticed they could see the light through. I'll have to cap mine. Note that the 2nd has its use, after 8 or 10,000km, just swap the cans instead of having to repack it.

I usually wear ear plugs due to wind noise but will sometimes take a stroll not too fast (<90km/h) just to enjoy the sound of the exhaust. I really like the crackle and burble.

I have the recent two bros exhaust. I use the left can to hold the compressed CO2 bottles that are part of my fix a flat supplies. They didn't all fit under my seat with all the tools I carry, and I didn't want to carry a tail or tank bag all the time. I kind of felt obligated to use the left can for something other than symmetry. Luckily there's a brew store by my house with the correct size pipe plug. Not happy about the lack of exhaust options for my '02, but I didn't want to buy used and a dual system is not the best option for overall performance from what I understand. It does sound awesome though!

Even though the can isn't used, isn't there some kind of heat transference from the engine and exhaust? Compressed c02, dont think I would risk that.

Absolutely no connection between the two pipes! Probably more heat under my seat than in side by side pipes.
