AMA and HD have been in the same sack for years. In the 50's and 60's AMA execs were also execs for HD.

The genesis for the displacement thing as orginally conceived was fine. 750cc sidevalves vs 500cc OHV's. These were the days of ridgid frame, no brakes flattracking.

This guy's editorial is weak and skirts the main issue of who is in the same bed as who.

Maybe we will luck out and he'll do an editorial or op ed piece on Nazis.

I was thinking that in my AMA magazine it said something last year about the AMA selling off the racing part of the business to someone else but allowing them to keep the name AMA for continuity (I suppose). Anyway, I think that whoever they sold it to may be making even worse that it had been reported to be prior to. Possibly it's this DMG that ianjoub mentions...

Not surprised one bit. They'll be lucky to actually complete this season.

    A complete joke and embarrassment.

AMA does some good things. Thier insurance riders for events is dirt cheap. Great museum but the holdover from the old days is still BS.

Jokes and jibes aside, HD is a very sophisticated company with some very smart people running the show. If anyone thinks the tone of the AMA mag is not set by HD, some rethinking IMO is in order. Also, a direct link to any publication and what has been said is far superior to what may have been said.

These powerful organizations are compromised into doing "good " things whilst retaining a hold and influencing some of the "bad" things. As one example. ABATE whose sole reason for being is the eradication of helmet laws so some greedy lawyers (who ride) can collect 30-40% of the settlement from insurers when one of those fools get fucked up, go for a putt and go splat on their melons and drool in thier cornflakes for ther rest of thier lives.

    Spot on Badbilly:thumbsup:

ABATE is very powerful here in Delaware. It ranks are soaked with the exact poeple you mention and the other members area bunch of so-called professionals who have more "money" than brains.

I've been invited to a few ABATE meetings when some people find out I'm an MSF Coach, like I'll have something to contribute to the group becasue of this?

I have something to contribute, but they won't want to hear it:flip:

p.s. Some issues back, an editor for Motorcycle Consumer News poked at ABATE without saying their name, but you knew who he meant.

Same thing in the Seattle area including paid lobbyists. They took one in the shorts recently. Kind of a local event for mostly harleydoods under the guise of a "show and shine." The bad boys started showing up and the security went up to some astronomical figure. The gig was cancelled.

I live in Oregon now. The cumulative IQ of all members is in single digits here. I got involved in a bike "run" and the masterabaters showed up to "help" Five fucking minutes later they are asking for money.

Of interest if you wish, the main dude is a guy named Richard Lester. Look him up and much will be revealed. Lester is the GWB of bikers..

Am I political? Oh hell yes!

The AMA organization has done wonders for us street motorcyclist/bikers through out the years. Their racing was the best at one time also. It's a shame what the "AMA" racing group is doing to the sport today. Looks like they are going down the same road as CART did in auto racing. We all know how that one turned out.

If they don't change for the better I'll lay odds they won't be around in a few years, and if they are they'll be the NASCAR of the bike world. ick! I think it will be a loss motorcycle racing.

Ol' Mr. Lester is the definition of "scumbag attorney".

I can't remember the name of the douche that runs' Delaware's ABATE, but he has the IQ of a potato.

Last year there was legislation to make a mandatory helmet law in DE. The ABATE douche was saying crap like "helmets restrict vision" "they weigh 5-7 lbs". "restrict oxygen flow" or some other such nonsense. What fucking helmet weighs 5-7lbs? Oxygen? They how come Valentino Rossi and other racers don't drop like flies? Restrict vision? Get a helmet that's fitted properly dumbass!

Why doesn't ABATE just say: "We don't want to wear helmets".

At least I could live with that better than faulty logic and BS:crazy:

Sorry for the thread hijack brdbluz.
