Difference between a FH012DA vs FH020AA Regulator

    Thanks for having me on. My 2007 6th gen VFR is running a FH012DA regulator. Looks like BMW is running the same FH012DA on some of their bikes (BMW S1000RR). Would it be worth switching to an FH012AA or they about the same? Thanks

    AFAIK, the 012 doesn't handle quite as much current as the 020. If you want a used 020, look up ebay for OEM's off Yamaha FJR 1300's approx. 2008 -12, they may have had 012's earlier than that. But those systems put out 590 watts and had no failures.... jes sayin' the used ones from those bikes are very likely OK. Same connectors you could try '13 and later and may get a series regulator. 2015-up Kawi 1000's had series regulators, FYI.

    CBR500s also used the FH020aa....
