Hi guys. I'm a new VFR owner here in Edmonton too. Like to meet at the Ranch. That sounds good. Silver 6th gen 03.

Hey Bounce_Man. I have the exact same bike. Bought it from Riverside last spring brand new in the crate. Wanted one for 8 years but could never afford it (sad I missed out on the 25th Anniv. one).
2006 Black Pearl (I just like the Pirates of the Caribbean sound :) )
I live in Gibbons (20 min north of Edmonton). Last year I enjoyed cruising to that motorcycle parking lot on Whyte ave. beside the Timmy's. Saw 4 VFR's there, not including mine!
On a side note, I am planning a approx. 5 day trip to "anywhere" in the Rockies this summer. A simple camp trip beside a fish able stream. Just need to get my Givi's and decide on a soft tank bag and trunk...
    Btw, I am not a squid. :)

Im in the Lloyd area which is 2 hours away. from either Cold Lake or Edmonton depending on direction taken lol. I have seen a couple VFRs around here over the past couple years. Seems to be a few 1st gen Vfs around here too!

I thought this thread was long dead. Hey guys! I think I'm gonna plan a weekend trip here. Everybody is saying that they'd like to go for a trip but it seems we're not. I know everybody is busy these days but we have to make the time dammit! :) Also, the weather here has finally smartened up. I'd like to have a fairly central meeting point and probably cruise to some campsite around Jasper or something. Camp for a night or two then head home. Anybody interested? Any other ideas? I'm open. I just wanna go somewhere.

I bought an '01 Red 5th Gen last fall. One of my riding buddies has a '99 Red 5th gen. We're both on the south side of the city.

I live in the NW but work near 50th and Argyll. I have seen a few VFR's in my area on the way to work. One guy and I pass each other on 97th every other day at about 630am. Lots of bikers, but most people just like to ride around town.

Just letting you guys know I'm still lurking this thread. :)
I'll totally go riding but right now I found this thread:
    http://vfrworld.com/forums/trips-events/28471-vfrw-2010-kootenay-tour-best-bc.html

and I'm planning on going...and then I had a small crash. Got two and a half weeks to get me and the bike roadworthy again. Shouldn't be a prob.
After this little trip though I'd be up for a day trip or overnighter.

I'm south of the city as well (Calgary :)) with a mint '85 VF500F Interceptor (second owner since "86). Don't see too many first gens out here.

I second that. Which areas do you usually go?

One of my longer routes is St. Albert Trail -> Groat -> Connors Road (around the traffic circle a few times) -> Whyte -> 104 street -> Over the low level bridge -> River Valley Road -> up Groat again -> St. Albert Trail.

I got up early, checked the weather and decided to make my way towards Jasper for lunch. I am not to far from St Albert. I live near North Common Movie theater area just off 137th ave.

That's pretty awesome... No problem doing over 700K a day? How often do you get off to stretch usually ?

About every 1.5 hours. I find the more breaks I take, the longer I can ride if I really need to log the miles on. As you know, being in flatland country it takes about 6 hours just to get to the BC border to see a tree and corners. So I have done a lot of weekend rides to Nelson, Revelstoke etc etc.
