Hey EVvy...how are you breaking in that bad boy? My red VFR is about as young as yours and I am interested in comparing notes on your ideas.

Nungboy, I know what you mean there. I now have just over 3000 miles on it so my initial breakin is pretty much done. But I really stewed over this myself. There is alot of various info out there to consider. I was told to beat the hell out of it by some and to follow the owners manual rec's by others. As you know our manuals are pretty vague!! If I remember correctly it says to avoid full throttle acceleration for the first 500 miles - that is it. So that is about all I did. I'd ride around a bit to get the temp up, and by all means I would accelerate kinda hard once in a while, never FULL throttle, but certainly through v-tec mode and beyond, a couple hundred rpms short of red line for sure. Also, I commute alot, so I constantly would vary speeds and gears that I ran in. For example, at 55-60mph, I would vary between 5th and 6th, sometimes even 4th for a while. At 500 miles I got the oil changed and everything seems to be real good. That is the best I could muster, I hope it helps ya out a bit!! EVvy

Excellent! Thanks. I have many less miles (about 300) so it helps to hear your choices. I agree...that manual is so vague. You make good sense. I haven't been past about 8000 yet. Sure is FUN so far! THANKS!!!
