    Hi Scottbott,

On the grand scheme of things not far at all. I reckon about 90 miles. Leeds is a good town if you like shopping :)

VFR800FE - Copy.jpg Ooh, I don't want demerits on my first day. Here you go, my 2014 in black. I've just got some VFR1200 panniers from eBay and painted them black (just like the song).

Hey Stu, you're not too far away from me. I wouldn't suppose you happen to go to Route 59 near Skipton do you?

Sorry James, I've never heard of it. I only do a couple of organised rides per year as I commute to Knaresborough every day for work.

Hi Fink. I was on BO when I had the Triumphs a few years ago but after all the bannings I'm not interested. I'm on a private site which is full of BO refugees :)

    Hi Stu

Welcome to the MadHouse - Your 2014 will fit right in and bring you many years of fun.

When it comes to demerits - don't trust Randy - he's probably just on the look-out for new tip-over victims. The current scoreboard is here - http://vfrworld.com/threads/you-dropped-it-how-many-time.44298/

As you will see these bikes are quite top heavy and as 35 pages now demonstrate, they are inclined to take an expensive and unplanned nap. With a bike looking that smart I would be investing in some R&G frame sliders.

I am fascinated by the idea of buying 7th Gen panniers for use on an 8th Gen? Does this mean the mounting systems are compatible?

    Take care

    Hi SkiMad

Yes, the mounting system and boxes are the same on the VFR800F, VFR880X and VFR1220F. AFAIK they are the same boxes. I have a 6th Gen Vtec topbox on an SW Motech rack for which I made an adapter plate out of 4mm aluminium sheet.

Re the drop. I'd put the side stand down to remove the lower fairing and it snagged the ramp when taking the bike off and pushed it over. I was very lucky with the damage.

shh - Don't tell Randy or you will swiftly appear on the victims list. I am glad the damage was minor - I can only say the R&G sliders on my VFR have more than paid for themselves several times over.
