Hi everybody just came back in the saddle of a VFR after a quarter of century , I decided to join this community (that I've been lurking for a lot searching for tricks and helps) I've been riding since late 80's, and I spent approx. 25 years running (or trying to, that's more corrrect ) in racetrack: I'm lucky enough to live 30km far from Mugello circuit. I've been riding a '95 carb VFR many years ago (DELICIOUS bike), but after this experience I've been bewitched by the brutal force of the CBR1100 XX. I owned two of them, the first of which I've been tuned it a lot, transforming it into a sporty bike to have fun with in circuit: Now, after having passed 50's, I decide to embrace the old gear-driven cam V4 again. I found a inj. '98 (Gen5) needing for a resurrection. I paid it a few, spent some days in my workshop to restore it and now it's a marvel again Engine and gearshaft are excellent, now, as well as (crossing fingers) the recharge system. Suspensions and brakes are awful. Just risen the tail by shimming the shock connection bracket, and lowered the front by shifting up the forks by 5mm. It's not enough, so something more drastic will come up this winter; I'll keep you updated Bye!
Hi and Welcome to the Madhouse from the French side of the Alps. Kudos for including photos with your first post and I love the subtle Dr Ergal branding on the Super Blackbird. It sounds like your VFR may be getting plenty of attention over the winter months. Feel free to create a build thread and post progress updates. If you hit problems there are a few people on here who have already pulled these beasties apart and succesfully put them back together and if you are lucky they may be able to offer advice. In the meantime - Have Fun SkiMad
Thanks, skimad Well, I already teared apart my VFR (I do any intervention by myself) Just 10 minutes after having brought it in my garage it was nude I made a total service overhaul, including starter valves syinchronization But I have some radical ideas in my mind. Everything is up to the available spare time and, most of all, the permission of the BIG LORD OF THE HOUSE (my wife ) to spend "money for nothing"
Well, I think so too: never seen a dark metal gray color scheme for a gen 5: just red, black, yellow, light gray and 50th However, I disassembled the entire bike, and all the plastics and the tank were excellent, looking like a stock work. really looks like a factory paintjob Either way, I like it A LOT: elegant and classy
